Shortly before leaving London, I visited the Brand Museum in Notting Hill on Nick’s suggestion. It is a small and cosy place and it is definitely worth a look.
It has an amazing collection of packagings, products, posters, ads, objects from all times, starting from the late years of the 19th Century. It is incredible to see how so many brands have developed and looked much better before, or have surprisingly not changed at all, or how much the kind of food we eat or the cleaning products we use have changed along with new technologies or social models.
In the last section of the museum you can follow the development from origins till now of a few main brands, like Kellog’s and Guinness. In a word, it is a designer’s dream in this era of constant vintage revival. And a lovely stroll along Notting Hill streets too.
